Harish Rao Criticizes Government Over Power Artisan Employees’ Strike

Sathya Shodhana

Former Minister and Siddipet MLAT Harish Rao strongly criticized the state government, stating that it is not delivering people-centric governance and instead functioning in an arbitrary manner. He expressed solidarity with electricity artisan employees who have been on an indefinite strike for the past six days at the Electricity DE office in Siddipet, demanding resolution of their issues.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that a government can be called people’s governance only when it fulfills the promises made to the public.

He alleged that despite assurances given by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to various sections of society, not a single promise has been fulfilled even after two and a half years in power. He recalled that during the previous BRS government, around 26,000 artisans were recognized and provided better wages.

He questioned the government’s lack of response even as nearly 27,000 electricity artisan employees across the state are on strike. He further alleged that the government has failed employees of various sectors including Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan staff, employment guarantee workers, Anganwadi workers, and ASHA workers. He criticized Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka for failing to honor the promises made during his padayatra.

Harish Rao also accused the government of attempting to raise huge loans in the name of a third DISCOM project to lay underground power lines and earn commissions. He questioned why the same concern is not shown towards the welfare of electricity workers. He further alleged that despite claims of providing 24-hour power supply to agriculture, farmers are not receiving even 12 hours of proper electricity.

He demanded that Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka immediately hold talks with the striking artisans and resolve their issues. He also criticized the government for threatening to invoke ESMA against employees, stating that such actions reflect an anti-worker approach. He warned that if the demands are not addressed immediately, the BRS party will intensify its agitation and hold the government responsible for the consequences.
