Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the state government was committed to providing democratic governance that guarantees equal rights, freedom and justice to every citizen. Drawing inspiration from the sacrifices of freedom fighters, the People’s Government was working towards transforming Telangana into a $3 trillion economy by 2047, he said.
Bhatti Vikramarka unfurled the national flag at the Khammam Parade Ground as part of the Independence Day celebrations. He paid tribute to freedom fighters including Jamalapuram Keshava Rao, Ayitham Venkateshwarlu, Kotha Janardhan Rao, Lachchamma, Zainabi and Shoaibulla Khan, recalling their sacrifices for the nation.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government was giving priority to agriculture and farmer welfare. Under Rythu Bharosa, ₹427.97 crore had been deposited into the accounts of 3,41,913 farmers, while ₹912.10 crore had been released to 1,31,760 farmers under the farm loan waiver programme. Through Rythu Bima, ₹40.15 crore had been provided to 803 bereaved families.
He said 2,83,956 metric tonnes of maize worth ₹681.49 crore had been procured from 44,568 farmers at the minimum support price. Training on natural farming and alternative crops was also being provided continuously through 129 Rythu Vedikas.
In the education sector, the government had introduced centralised mechanised kitchens and a breakfast programme to provide quality and nutritious food to 27 lakh students in government schools and residential institutions. Young India Integrated Schools were being developed at a cost of ₹200 crore each in Khammam, Palair, Madhira, Wyra and Sathupalli constituencies. Advanced Technology Centres were also being established in Wyra, Sathupalli, Palair and Madhira constituencies.
Bhatti Vikramarka said the government was strengthening healthcare infrastructure across the district. A 50-bed critical care building had been completed at Khammam Government General Hospital at a cost of ₹23.75 crore, with Cath Lab, CT Scan and 2D Echo facilities made available. Construction of 100-bed area hospitals at Wyra and Kusumanchi was being expedited, while new dialysis centres were being established at hospitals in Thirumalayapalem, Wyra, Kalluru, Penuballi and Nelakondapalli.
He said the Sitarama Lift Irrigation Scheme was providing irrigation to 1,38,790 acres of new ayacut through the Palair Link Canal. To prevent flooding in Khammam city, a retaining wall was being constructed along the Munneru River at a cost of ₹525.36 crore. The four-lane Kodad-Khammam NH-365A had been completed at a cost of ₹1,583 crore, while a bridge across the Munneru at Theegala had been constructed at a cost of ₹180 crore.
The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted several initiatives for women’s welfare and empowerment. Under the Mahalakshmi scheme, women had made more than 6.14 crore free journeys on RTC buses across the district, with the government bearing an expenditure of ₹326.73 crore. An Indira Mahila Dairy pilot project was also being implemented in Madhira constituency at a cost of ₹2 crore, providing subsidised milch cattle to women.
Under the Indiramma Housing scheme, construction of 10,396 houses out of the 16,243 houses sanctioned in the first phase had been completed, with ₹454.97 crore released to beneficiaries. Another 10,400 houses had been sanctioned in the second phase, he said.
He said the Gruha Jyothi scheme was providing free electricity to 2,49,454 households consuming up to 200 units, with the government providing a subsidy of ₹257.22 crore. Solar power development works worth ₹16.04 crore were being undertaken in several villages, including Bonakal mandal, while solar plants had been installed in 379 government schools.
Bhatti Vikramarka said tourism infrastructure was also being strengthened, with ₹15 crore sanctioned for a ropeway project at Khammam Fort, ₹5 crore for Palair Lake and ₹2.50 crore for the Buddhist stupa at Nelakondapalli. He said the land records re-survey process had also commenced in Kakaravai, Bethupalli and Bhagavatveedu villages under the Telangana Survey and Boundaries Act of 1923, after a gap of 96 years.
The Deputy Chief Minister said the government would continue to focus on development, welfare, employment, infrastructure and economic growth, with the objective of building a prosperous Telangana and achieving the ambitious $3 trillion economy target by 2047.
