Adilabad District Collector Rajarshi Shah directed officials to speed up the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process of the electoral rolls and focus particularly on the delivery of pending notices, hearings and disposal of applications and forms.
The Collector expressed dissatisfaction over the slow progress in pending notices, hearings and application disposal and instructed officials to work with daily action plans to complete the process within the stipulated deadline. He reviewed the SIR process through a Zoom conference with tahsildars, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs) and other officials on Saturday.
During the review, officials were questioned about pending notices, hearings and applications in various mandals under the Adilabad and Boath constituencies. The Collector expressed serious concern that around 26,000 notices were pending for delivery under the AERO jurisdiction in Adilabad Urban mandal, while only around 600 hearings had been completed so far.
Rajarshi Shah directed officials to accelerate notice delivery and hearings and ensure speedy disposal of applications in Boath mandal and other mandals across the constituencies. He said the SIR process has a final deadline of November 5 and directed officials to achieve their daily targets without fail.
The Collector instructed tahsildars to prepare mandal-wise action plans to process at least 900 notices and applications every day. He also directed officials to update daily progress online and instructed BLOs to conduct extensive field visits to ensure 100 per cent delivery of pending notices to the concerned voters.
He further directed officials to complete hearings within the prescribed timeframe after delivery of notices and immediately dispose of the relevant forms. Documents submitted as part of the electoral roll revision, including primary and supporting documents and records relating to the periods before 1987, before 2002 and after 2004, must be carefully verified as per the rules, he said.
The Collector directed BLOs and AEROs to coordinate effectively to ensure that Form-6 applications for new voter registration, Form-7 applications concerning deletions and objections, and Form-8 applications for corrections reach the concerned offices on time. He instructed officials to examine and dispose of applications promptly without keeping them pending.
Rajarshi Shah said preparation of the electoral roll was a highly important process and stressed that every eligible voter should be included while ineligible names should be removed transparently as per the rules. He directed officials to avoid negligence and complete the SIR process by achieving the prescribed targets every day. Additional Collector Rajeshwar, RDO Jagadishwar Rao, revenue officials, tahsildars, AEROs and others participated in the Zoom meeting.
